Women Writers' Winter Retreat

Beginners find this workshop an excellent launching point; experienced writers frustrated by "passes" also find it a must. Includes Top 10 Don’t-Go-There Mistakes and Page One/First Five Pages tests.

Children's Book Writing - From Picture Books to Middle Grade Novels
February 26, 2007 thru March 2, 2007.

Workshop exercises focus on the two key aspects of becoming a successful children's writer: 1) The creative process, which involves delving deeply into our emotions, hopes, dreams and disappointments 2) The children’s publishing business, and understanding how to package and sell a book idea to a publisher (Info about self -publishing is also covered on request.)
Option A: $595 (US) includes daily writing classes and a private writing critique. Students wishing to participate in the additional activities may do so for an added fee. A $300 deposit is due at the time of registration.
Option B: $1,595 (US) includes accommodations at one of the many private haciendas, houses or villas in San Miguel de Allende, transportation from and to the Leon airport, daily writing classes, a private writing critique with your instructor, morning yoga classes, a spa treatment, a night out salsa dancing and an historical walking tour. A $500 deposit is required at the time of registration. Space is limited.

Whidbey Island Writers Conference

The Women We Are: Memoir as Gift

This writing workshop encourages participants to call back memorable moments through scenes, conversations, photographs, totems, senses, and dreams. Finding Your Voice In Writing With Crysse Morrison

This is a course for all writers, including beginners and those with work in progress, with a focus on discovering and developing personal style, and on writing from both imagination and experience. This workshop promises to help you become more flexible at shifting away from self-critical blocks and at accessing the intuitive creative right side of the brain. Circle of Writers in Costa Rica

Yellowstone Nature Writers’ Field Conference

This 5-day workshop seeks literary inspiration through park exploration and expert guidance from accomplished writers and publishers. Cost for the conference is $1,629.00 per person double occupancy, $1,857.00 single occupancy, plus tax. Price includes all conference sessions, five nights of lodging at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and one night at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge along with breakfasts during the conference, field lunches where applicable, 2 group dinners, in-park transportation, and Snow Card discount card, good toward discounts on tours, activities, gifts, and food.
Donna Hanelin's Creative Writing in Oaxaca
February 17-25, 2007.
Beginning and experienced writers of fiction, poetry, memoir, personal writing and essay are invited to join this eight-night workshop-retreat conducted by writing instructor Donna Hanelin at Casa Sagrada in Teotitlan del Valle, 15 miles east of the city of Oaxaca. The group is limited to 12-15 participants with an active interest in writing. The schedule includes morning writing practice, classes, and private consultations as well as evening readings and discussions. All activities are optional in order to respect the varying needs and interests of participants. Class topics are determined by a pre-retreat questionnaire.
Intensive Writing Workshop with Robert Stone

In this intensive five-day workshop we will work on critiquing and revising your work to bring it to a more complete and polished form. We will read each other’s work in advance, and spend the mornings in critical discussions. It is not unusual for a work to be heavily revised as a result of workshop discussions. There are no limitations as to genre or subject matter. Prerequisites: Submit up to 20 pages of a work in progress. Tuition: $750.00
Soul of Travel Writing Workshop
March 8–15, 2007.
Rancho Encantado, Yucatán, Mexico
During this week-long retreat we will go to remote Maya archeological sites, cook with Maya people, swim, go kayaking, get a massage, take a boat trip, enjoy breakfast and a three-course candlelight gourmet dinner each day, explore the remote tropical lagoon where the resort is located, and learn to transform all these experiences into travel articles and travel stories. The best story will be published in Spirituality & Health. No experience in writing or photography necessary. Space is limited to 26, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All costs are included, except airfare to Cancún. The resort is three and one half hours from Cancún, and transportation from the airport is provided. Price per person is $1,895.($100 discount for booking before December 15.)
Limnisa Center For Creative Writing Workshops: Writing For Children

The course is designed to be helpful, no matter what stage you are at. You are welcome to bring your own project, either as an idea or as a work in progress, or come with an open mind and gain new inspiration. The lectures and assignments are designed to help you make progress towards your own writing goals.
