St. George Island Writers' Retreat for Women: Polishing Works In Progress

Fiction Among Friends! The St. George Island Writers' Retreat for Women is designed to inspire creativity and foster personal growth. It offers the unique opportunity to work alongside published authors in a nurturing environment. The retreat is limited to nine resident participants and four non-resident commuter participants. For resident participants, the $750 per person, a fee that covers workshops, conferencing, lodging, snacks, beverages and all meals. Cost of any offsite meals and entertainment will be the guest's responsibility. For non-resident participants, $550 covers participation in all activities and meals at the retreat, but will not include lodging.
Algonkian Novel Workshop

During 45+ hours of actual workshop time, students will engage in those rigorous narrative and complication/plot exercises necessary to produce a publishable manuscript. The three areas of emphasis will be premise, platform, and execution. The cost is $825.00 and that includes tuition, a private cottage room for five nights, breakfast, lunch, the Algonkian Workshop book, "Immersed in The Art of Fiction," and a professional manuscript consultation.

In a non-competitive, nurturing atmosphere, the Creativity Workshop course helps participants develop creative skills, expanded sense perception, concept innovation and problem solving, increased inspiration and brainstorming, and new ways of looking at life as exciting and transformative. Finding Your Voice In Writing With Crysse Morrison

This is a course for all writers, including beginners and those with work in progress, with a focus on discovering and developing personal style, and on writing from both imagination and experience. This workshop promises to help you become more flexible at shifting away from self-critical blocks and at accessing the intuitive creative right side of the brain. Circle of Writers in Costa Rica

Explore, discover, and become an active writer during this week of creative writing and outdoor adventure. The focus is on writing with nature and our own lives, in a spectacular rainforest/beach reserve. Participants will write 2-3 times each day and participate in a variety of outdoor adventures, including a rainforest hike, snorkelling or horseback riding at Cahuita National Park, a canopy tour or sea and river kayaking, and a waterfall trek. The Colrain Poetry Manuscript Conference
November 10-13, 2006.

The workshops of this conference provide intensive focus on manuscript preparation (ordering, revising, and swapping out poems), and then poets meet one-on-one with the decision-makers: poetry press editors from several established area presses. Prior to the conference, and following registration, poets will be given pre-conference assignments. Following successful application, the registration fee for the conference is $695 until October 23. This includes the conference fee, workshop tuition, and materials; lodging for four nights; and three meals per day plus snacks and beverages.
