From page 45 to about 60, your main character should be acting, not reacting.

In well-written movies, at the black moment, or just before the end of your screenplay, your main character should be confronted by your villain in a situation that shows your main character with no chance to win. It is here that your main character should experience an epiphany.

This means that he is faced with what he has been trying to overcome throughout your screenplay. Here, just before the end, the obstacle is the largest one yet that you have had him encounter. If he overcomes this one, he will accomplish his goal, win, transform and you can end your movie by sending your audience out of the theater with smiles on their faces and/or tears in their eyes.

You begin writing this at about page 45 of your screenplay. You show your main character doing something, or saying something that foreshadows the way he will be at the end of the movie after he transforms. From page 45 of your screenplay to about page 60, show your main character acting, instead of reacting. From page 45 on, your main character must be proactive. He must drive all of the action. He must be in position where everyone is now reacting to him.

At the same time, you must have your villain getting stronger. From page 45 to 60 your main character has taken control now, and you must show that the villain realizes this. So, you show your villain up the stakes by becoming more powerful himself. You can do this by showing your villain's evil side. From now on, your villain is going to have to resort to even more evil means to defeat your main character.

You must show your villain hammering your main character into virtual submission. As you write this, you must also show your main character being proactive and getting stronger. By page 60, you should have your main character totally destroyed where the only thing he has left is his will to win, to achieve his goal.
